Council of Arab Ministers of Health: highly important issues on the agenda

The head of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health and Egyptian Minister of Health, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, said on Monday that the 58th session of the Council, chaired and hosted by Algeria, dealt with ” highly important ” topics requiring coordination and collaboration to materialise and support health security in the Arab countries.

Speaking at the opening of the 58th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health, organised under the slogan “Strengthening health security to improve the health of the population and preparing for future pandemics”, the Egyptian minister said that the agenda of this meeting ” deals with extremely important issues requiring coordination and joint collaboration to implement them and make them a reality on the ground in order to support health security in the Arab countries”.

The Deputy Secretary General of the League of Arab States and Head of the Social Affairs Department, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said that this session ” is packed with health issues such as the creation of several centres and bodies to develop the health sector in the Arab world “.

These topics, she said, “require decisions and an Arab consensus”, adding that this session hosted by Algeria “addresses all the issues aimed at developing the health sector in the Arab world”.

The agenda will address strategic issues of interest to the Arab world, including joint Arab action in the field of health, the exchange of expertise and experience in the field of health, and the examination of proposals for the establishment of health bodies to boost cooperation among Arab countries, in addition to other topics related to the increase of efforts in all health-related fields.
