The Council of Ministers, chaired on Sunday by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, decided to increase the purchase prices of soft and durum wheat from farmers to encourage them to double their production in order to achieve food security, said a statement from the Council.
According to the press release, the purchase price of durum wheat has risen from 4,500 Da to 6,000 Da, soft wheat from 3,500 Da to 5,000 Da, barley from 2,500 Da to 3,400 Da and oats from 1,800 Da to 3,400 Da.
The President of the Republic has also ordered to clear “the way for agricultural investments according to the country’s resources and capacities”, the same source concluded.
