Covid-19: Extension of partial lockdown in 19 wilayas for a period of 21 days

Prime Minister Mr. Abdelaziz Djerad decided today, Thursday, to extend the partial quarantine procedures for a period of 21 days in 19 provinces, while preserving quarantine hours, i.e. from midnight (00:00 AM) until 4 AM the next day, provided that these measures enter into effect from May 1, 2021.

“In application of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense and at the end of consultations with the Scientific Committee for monitoring the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid -19) and the health authority, Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad decided on the measures to be implemented under the system for managing the health crisis linked to the Coronavirus pandemic.”

“Always in line with the objective of preserving the health of citizens and protecting them against any risk of the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and supported by the approach based on prudence, progressivity and flexibility, these measures aim to adapt the current protection and prevention system with regard to the evolution of the epidemiological situation “.

This partial home confinement measure (00h-4h00) is applicable from Saturday 1 May 2021 in nineteen (19) wilayas namely, “Adrar, Laghouat, Batna, Bejaia, Blida, Tébessa, Tizi-Ouzou, Algiers , Jijel, Sétif, Sidi Bel Abbes, Constantine, M’Sila, Ouargla, Oran, Boumerdes, El Oued, Tipaza and Touggourt “, according to the communiqué of the first ministry.

The thirty-nine (39) wilayas which are not concerned by this measure are “Chlef, Oum El Bouaghi, Biskra, Béchar, Bouira, Tamenghasset, Tlemcen,Tiaret, Djelfa, Saïda, Skikda, Annaba, Guelma, Médéa, Mostaganem, Mascara, El Bayadh, Illizi, Bordj Bou Arreridj, El Tarf, Tindouf, Tissemsilt, Khenchela, Souk Ahras, Mila, Ain Defla, Naâma, Ain Temouchent, Ghardaia , Relizane, Timimoun, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Ouled Djellal, Beni Abbés, In Salah, In Guezzam, Djanet, El Meghaeir and El Meniaâ “, adds the same source.

The governors can, after approval of the competent authorities, take all measures required by the health status of each province, especially approving, modifying, or controlling the timings of partial or complete quarantine targeting a municipality, place, or neighborhood or more that has hotbeds of infection.

In this regard, the government calls on citizens to double their vigilance, and to maintain the maximum degree of mobilization in combating the spread of the virus (Covid-19) in our country, by continuing to strictly adhere to the recommended preventive measures, such as physical distancing, compulsory wearing of a mask, and washing hands continuously.
