Covid-19: Extension of the current system of protection and prevention for a period of 10 days, starting tomorrow, Wednesday

Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, decided to extend the current system of protection and prevention for a period of 10 days, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, in the context of managing the health crisis related to the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), according to what was announced today, Tuesday, in a communiqué of the Prime Minister services.

In accordance with the relative stability of the epidemiological situation, the government has taken a series of measures to mitigate the management of the health crisis associated with the Coronavirus pandemic, which was especially represented in lifting the restrictions imposed on the movements and gatherings of people, family gatherings, and commercial, economic and social activities.

It was envisaged that the aforementioned mitigation measures would be accompanied by the citizens’ continued adherence to prevention measures, especially the compulsory mask wearing and adherence to hygiene rules, as well as the strict application of the various health protocols adopted by the Scientific Committee to follow up on the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic, which are dedicated to various economic, commercial and social activities.

It should also be supported by the intensification of population vaccination, which remains the best means of prevention and protection for citizens and society in general, and the main element that contributes to normalizing the situation and preserving economic and social activities.

In this regard, the Scientific Committee to Follow up on the Evolution of the Coronavirus Pandemic and the Health Authority urgently recommend to citizens the need to exercise the utmost vigilance, as they must avoid any laxity in complying with the preventive measures and the various health protocols dedicated to various economic, commercial and social activities.

They also renew their calls for citizens who have not yet been vaccinated to massively reach out to vaccination centers throughout the national territory with the aim of protecting our citizens from the dangerous effects of this pandemic on the health, economic and social levels.

In this context, and regardless of the entry conditions imposed on travelers, the Scientific Committee to follow up on the development of the Coronavirus pandemic recommends the adoption of a health passport for vaccination as a condition for entering and leaving the national territory, knowing that this procedure will be implemented in the next few days with regard to transporting travelers by sea.

After the expiry of the period covered by this statement, it could lead the public authorities to adopt health measures adapted to the development of the epidemiological situation, especially with regard to compulsory vaccination and the expansion of the health passport for vaccination to some activities.
