Covid-19: National vaccination campaign extended to the end of the year

Ministry of Health announced on Friday the prolongation until the end of the year of the national vaccination campaign against Covid-19, launched last week, in order to reach a vaccination rate of 70% of the population.

“The national vaccination campaign against Covid-19 has been extended to the end of the current year, in order to achieve a vaccination rate of 70% of the population, achieving herd immunity against this virus and allowing a return to normal life, “said the ministry in a statement.

The Ministry of Health reported “more than one (01) million people were vaccinated during the period from 04 to 09 September,” calling, on this opportunity, all citizens to continue “to join this national campaign and comply with the guidelines of health authorities, while respecting the preventive measures before and after vaccination to avoid contamination.”

The Minister of Health, Abderrahmane Benbouzid had stressed last Saturday, at the launch of the national vaccination campaign, placed under the slogan “With vaccination, life goes on”, on the “leading role” that “the ministerial sectors, civil society and social partners, each in its field of action, in containing the pandemic.”

The Minister also called for a “total involvement” of the Government and the Algerian people for the success of this vaccination campaign, until “we reach a large number of people vaccinated”, which will, he said, reduce the impact of the pandemic and relieve pressure on hospitals.
