Death of the former Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr Saïd Chibane

 The former Minister of Religious Affairs, Professor Saïd Chibane, died on Sunday at the age of 97 following a long lasting illness, we learned from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Wakfs.

Born in the locality of Chorfa, in the wilaya of Bouira, the deceased held the position of Minister of Religious Affairs from 1989 to 1991. He was also a member of the Association of Algerian Muslim Ulemas, chaired by his brother, the late Abderrahmane Chibane.

The late, in his capacity as a professor of ophthalmology, participated in the creation of the Algerian Society for the History of Medicine with Professor Ahmed Aroua, in addition to his contribution to the development of the Unified Medical Dictionary.

In this painful ordeal, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Youcef Belmahdi, presents his sincere condolences and compassion to the family of the deceased, praying God Almighty to welcome him to His vast paradise and grant his family and his loved ones courage and comfort.
