Draft laws on penal code and combating speculation contribute to “adaptation” of penal policy to the developments of society

The ratification of the two draft laws on penal code and the combating against illegal speculation will contribute to “adapting the penal policy to the developments of the Algerian society” minister of Justice, Abderrachid Tabi said on Wednesday in Algiers.

Following the adoption of the two draft laws by the members of the People’s National Assembly, the minister of justice explained that the two laws will contribute to adapting the penal policy to the developments known by the Algerian society and strengthening the national system of legislation.”

He added that the amendment of the Penal Code aims to protect public facilities and deter acts that threaten the comfort and security of the citizen and to restore the state’s credibility. The law on combating illegal speculation aims to “establish a special legislative framework to deter the phenomenon, which developed in the country and displayed in a wave of acts that caused the deterioration of the purchasing power of Algerians”.
