Earthquake in Turkey and Syria: Algeria civil protection units rescue 7 persons, recover 25 dead bodies

The Head of Statistics and Media at the General Directorate of Civil Protection, Colonel Farouq Achour, stated that the current preliminary toll of Algeria’s civil protection units’ operation in the two countries has resulted in the rescue of 7 people from the rubble and the recovery of 25 other dead bodies.

He added that the units have been working 24/7, in Turkey, and have so far managed to save 6 people and recovered 18 bodies in a large area that includes several neighborhoods with a considerable number of collapsed buildings.

Colonel Achour emphasized that the task is not easy, given the challenging conditions and the efforts of the teams to deal the situation professionally and effectively with the aim of rescuing as many victims as possible.

The Media Officer at the Directorate, Nassim Bernaoui, confirmed that Algeria civil protection operation in Syria are ongoing leading to the rescue of 1 person from the rubble and recovered 7 other dead bodies.

He also stated that the teams are deployed in the region of the city of Aleppo, specifically in Bustan Qasr Al-Meshriq, in 4 locations and are working hard to provide assistance to the victims trapped under the rubble.

It is worth mentioning that the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelamdjid Tebboune, who is following the developments of the situation, has directed all state institutions to provide all forms of support and assistance to the affected areas.
