Egypt: (COP27) meeting to discuss reaching an international consensus to confront catastrophes caused by climate change

The proceedings of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) will start tomorrow, Sunday, to discuss how to reach an international consensus to confront catastrophes caused by climate change.

Several world leaders, heads of state and government, senior officials and representatives of international and regional organizations will participate in the conference, whose activities will continue until November 18, as discussions will focus on saving the planet from climate change.

Secretary-General António Guterres said the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, or COP27, should provide a “first series” of climate solutions that correspond to the scale of the problem.

The conference seeks to reach an international consensus to confront catastrophes caused by climate change, particularly drought, desertification, floods, forest fires, food and health crises, and the immersion of a number of coastal areas due to rising sea and ocean levels.

The meeting also aims, according to the United Nations, to renew solidarity among countries to implement the historic Paris Agreement for the benefit of people and the planet.

The Twenty-seventh Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) will build on the results of COP26 to take action on a range of critical issues to confront the climate emergency, urgently reducing greenhouse gas emissions, building resilience and adapting to the inevitable impacts of climate change.
