
Algeria praised, Thursday, the agreement concluded by the Ethiopian government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front to put an end to the fighting in the country, as indicated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad.
In its statement, the ministry affirmed that “Algeria, which is closely monitoring the development of events in Ethiopia, commends the agreement concluded between the Ethiopian government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front to put a definitive end to hostility in the country.”
The source added, “Algeria salutes the commitment of the two parties to preserve Ethiopia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to establish constitutional order in the Tigray region.”
Algeria welcomed, according to the same source, “the signing of this agreement, which contributes to putting a definitive end to the fratricidal fighting and reviving a dynamic to restore harmonious coexistence in the Tigray region and between the various human structures in Ethiopia.”
The statement stressed that “Algeria expresses to the brotherly Ethiopian people its welcome for this laudable event, and encourages the signatories to implement the agreement in form and substance.”
Finally, “Algeria commends the African Union and the Tripartite Mediation Committee for their commitment and tireless work, which allowed the realization of the validity of the principle of adopting African solutions to confront the problems of the continent.”
