
The European Union office in the West Bank and Gaza Strip described today, Friday, the Palestinian factions’ signature of the “Declaration of Algiers” stemming from the “Unification Conference to achieve Palestinian National Unity”, as “encouraging”, stressing the European Union’s readiness to support these efforts.
The representative of the European Union considered, in a statement, that “the results of the Palestinian talks that took place in Algeria,” and which culminated in the signing of the “Declaration of Algiers,” constitute “encouraging news,” stressing the European Union’s readiness to “support all efforts in this regard.”
He also called on the Palestinian factions to “intensify efforts towards achieving effective Palestinian political unity, and to agree on a timetable for holding democratic national elections, as they are essential to ensuring the democratic legitimacy of political representatives and institutions.”
