Forest fires: APU presents its condolences and expresses its solidarity with Algeria

Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (APU) expressed on Thursday its “sincere condolences, deep compassion and full solidarity with Algeria following the “tragic” forest fires recorded in some provinces of the country.

“It is with deep concern and sadness that the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union has learned of the tragic fires in some provinces of Algeria, resulting in significant loss of life among civilians and members of the National People’s Army (ANP),” the APU said in a statement.

While highlighting the nationalist spirit and solidarity between ANP elements and civilian citizens for putting out fires and reducing their material damage, the UPA, which is aware that the current weather conditions and the heat wave could promote the spread of forest fires and others, warns against the involvement of some malicious parties in such acts of vandalism targeting Algeria and its people, the same source said.

After extending its sincere condolences and fraternal sympathy to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, its government, parliament and people, the same Arab institution expressed its full solidarity with the country and called on all Arab and regional countries as well as the international community to provide urgent support, by ensuring the necessary means to contain the fires and to pursue the search and rescue operations, the statement added.

In this regard, the UPA extends its “sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the wounded, both civilian and military, praying to Almighty Allah to grant the martyrs His holy mercy and to grant their families patience and solace, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded,” the same source concluded.
