The former Spanish Foreign Minister, Arancha Gonzalez Laya, affirmed that Morocco carried out “eavesdropping operations” last year during the diplomatic dispute with Madrid, after her country received Sahrawi President Brahim Ghali for medical reasons.
Gonzalez Laya said in an interview with the newspaper “El Periodico de España” that Morocco “used all means during this crisis to distort the image of this humanitarian aid to Brahim Ghali.”
In response to a query regarding the hacking that Madrid revealed at the beginning of May of the phones of some members of its government, in the spring of 2021 during the diplomatic crisis between the two countries, the former minister who left the Spanish government in a cabinet reshuffle in July 2021 said: “When I say everything, I mean everything, eavesdropping and complaints and press campaigns in particular”.
The Spanish left-wing government stressed that these hacking operations by the “Pegasus” Zionist information program represented an “external attack.” Several Spanish media outlets also reported Rabat’s involvement in it.
The visit of Sahrawi President Brahim Ghali to Spain in April 2021 to be treated for COVID-19 caused a diplomatic crisis between Madrid and Rabat. And Gonzalez Laya confirmed in 2021 that receiving the Sahrawi president for hospitalization in Spain, represented a “gesture towards a person who was in a critical condition.”
Once downloaded to the mobile phone, the Pegasus program allows accessing message or data files or activating the device remotely for the purpose of capturing sound or image.
According to Amnesty International, this program could have been used to hack up to 50,000 mobile phones worldwide.
As a reminder, international news agencies and international newspapers, including “The Guardian”, “Washington Post” and “Le Monde”, revealed in July 2021 a large-scale spying scandal that affected politicians, especially heads of state, as well as journalists and activists from all over the world through the “Pegasus” program developed by the Zionist company “NSO” and Morocco is among the countries that have used this program.
