Gas Exporting Countries Forum: Arkab calls for giving gas an essential place in the energy transition

Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Mohamed Arkab called, today, Tuesday in Cairo, during his participation in the 24th ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, for giving gas an essential place in sustainable development and the energy transition, according to a statement by the ministry.

Mr. Arkab, who participated in the forum with executives from the ministry and from Sonatrach group, stressed “the importance of this meeting, to formulate and present the best solutions that the world needs for long-term energy security and to give back natural gas its right place as a primary energy for sustainable development and energy transition.” according to the statement.

Algeria/Egypt: Signing a Memorandum of Understanding

On the sidelines of his participation in this ministerial meeting, the Minister of Energy and Mines held a bilateral meeting with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, during which the two ministers reviewed the state of bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and mines and the opportunities available for its development.

A memorandum of understanding was signed during this meeting to develop cooperation in the fields of oil, gas and mines between Algeria and Egypt.

On the sidelines of this ministerial meeting, Minister Arkab held talks with the Minister of Energy of the State of Qatar and the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation.

The statement pointed out that “the discussions focused on the status of bilateral relations in the field of energy and mining and prospects for future cooperation.”
