
During the period from July 27 to August 2, National Security Services recorded 260 physical traffic accidents in urban areas, resulting in the death of 11 people and the injury of 307 others, according to what was announced today, Thursday, by the General Directorate of National Security.
The same source added that compared to the statistics recorded last week, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 32 accidents and 47 injured, with an increase in the number of deaths by 4 victims.
According to the statement, the data indicate that the causes of these accidents are primarily due to the human factor at 95%, as a result of non-respect of the traffic code, failure to observe safety distance, excessive speed, fatigue and lack of concentration when driving, in addition to other reasons related to the vehicle.
In this regard, the General Directorate of National Security renews its call to public road users to respect the traffic law, and to exercise caution while driving. It also puts at the disposal of citizens the green number 1548 and the emergency line 17, to receive reports 24/ 7.
