General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the ANP receives the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces

General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army received in audience, this Monday 20 February 2023, at the headquarters of the People’s National Army, Lieutenant General Salem Ben-Hamad Ben-Akil El-Nabet, Chief of Staff of Qatar’s Armed Forces, who is paying a working visit to Algeria, at the head of an important military delegation.

“The welcoming ceremony began with the salute to the national flag, followed by the military salute presented to the guest by a military formation representing the various branches of the People’s National Army.”

During this meeting, which was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, Force Commanders, Heads of Departments and Central Directors of the General Staff of the People’s National Army and the Ministry of National Defence, as well as members of the Qatari delegation, the two parties discussed the security challenges facing the Arab region and the African continent, and exchanged views on issues of common interest, as well as ways of strengthening military cooperation relations between the two fraternal countries.

On this occasion, the Army General delivered an address, in which he welcomed the host delegation, before congratulating the Qatari brothers for the perfect organisation of the football world cup, which has drawn worldwide admiration and presented an honourable image of the fraternal State of Qatar. On this occasion, the Army General underlined the excellence of the fraternal and multiform relations between Algeria and Qatar:

“On this occasion, I would like to congratulate you and our brothers from the State of Qatar on the perfect organisation of the 2022 Football World Cup, which has been admired worldwide, as well as on the honourable image you have given your country and the achievements you have made, especially the beautiful infrastructures built in record time, enabling your country to become a world centre for sports events.

Furthermore, I would like to recall the level of excellence that characterises the fraternal and multiform relations between Algeria and Qatar, which encourages our armies to move forward towards the implementation of a military cooperation that effectively reflects this special and promising convergence between the two brotherly peoples.”

Moreover, the Army General indicated that this meeting is an opportunity to review the areas of bilateral military cooperation, which continues to strengthen, thanks to the common will of the leaders of both countries to further promote it:

“We would like for this meeting to be another opportunity to review the various areas of bilateral military cooperation, which is constantly being strengthened, thanks to the interest of the leaders of the two countries, Mr Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, and his brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Ben Hamad Al Thani, Prince of the State of Qatar, and their common desire to promote it further.

This meeting also reflects our will to expand the exchange of visits between our two armies, as expressed during the fruitful visit I made to the fraternal country of Qatar in March 2022, to take part in the 7th edition of the international exhibition and conference of naval defence “DIMDEX-2022”, where we were able to notice the spirit of friendship and feelings of fraternity, and also the will to open promising horizons for our military cooperation.”

For his part, the Lieutenant General, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, expressed his pleasure to be in Algeria, and welcomed the solidity of the fraternal relations that bound the two countries, reflected by the level of military cooperation between their respective armies, in various fields.

At the end of this meeting, both parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before Lieutenant General Salem Ben-Hamad Ben-Akil El-Nabet signed the Golden Book of the PNA Staff.
