General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, received in audience, on Monday 27 February 2023, at the headquarters of the People’s National Army, Mr. Nikolai PATROUCHEV, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, who is paying a visit to Algeria at the head of an important delegation.
During this audience, attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, the Commanders of the Forces and the National Gendarmerie, the Heads of Departments and Central Directors of the General Staff of the People’s National Army and of the Ministry of National Defence, as well as members of the Russian delegation.
The two parties discussed the state of military cooperation between the armies of the two countries and the means of its reinforcement, as well as exchanged views on various issues of common interest.
On this occasion, the General delivered an address, at the beginning of which he welcomed Mr. Nikolai PATROUCHEV, as well as the delegation accompanying him, expressing the wish that the visit will be beneficial for both parties and at the height of the historical and strategic relations between the two countries.
“Let me welcome you to the headquarters of the PNA General Staff, expressing the wish that your visit will be beneficial for both parties, as it represents, for us, the firm and frank will, which drives the two countries to further strengthen the strategic and historical partnership that characterizes their bilateral relations, particularly in the field of military cooperation “.
In addition, the General pointed out that the efforts made by both countries to contribute to the establishment of a sustainable peace and development are in line with the principles that have contributed to the development of cooperation relations between the two parties.
“These efforts, in which Algeria and the Russian Federation are taking part for the implementation of a lasting peace and development, in the respect of the sovereignty of the States, are in line with the immutable and historical principles, that have contributed to the development of close bilateral cooperation relations, based on mutual trust and common interests of the two countries”.
Mr Nikolaï PATROUCHEV, who said he was happy to be in Algeria, stressed that the historical relations between Algeria and Russia are deep and his country is working to strengthen them further. In this context, he praised Algeria’s pivotal role and its great efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
At the end of this meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before Mr. Nikolai PATROUCHEV, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, signed the Golden Book of the PNA Staff.
