General Saïd Chanegriha inaugurates “Transforming National Liberation Army into National People’s Army” symposium

Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP) chaired, Thursday, at the National Army Circle in Béni Messous (Algiers), the opening of the historic conference on “the conversion of the National Liberation Army into the ANP”, on the occasion of the celebration of the National Day of the ANP.

This conference was attended by advisers to the President of the Republic, members of the government, the General of the Army, Commander of the Republican Guard, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense (MDN), the commanders of the forces and the National Gendarmerie, and the commander of the first military region.

Heads of departments, directors and heads of central services at the ministry, at the General Staff of the ANP as well as mujahideen and national personalities, also took part in this conference.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, Army General Saïd Chanegriha affirmed that this conference “took place under conditions comparable to other halts in our centuries-old history, halts which have always required a particular genius based on an enlightened vision, sincere, faithful to the homeland and detached from all subjectivity and restricted conjunctural considerations”.

This genius, continues Army General Saïd Chanegriha, “assured this national cohesion which makes it possible to bring together and fight against the various risks and dangers whatever their nature, with a view to completing the process of building the “New Algeria, a strong Algeria with its brave people and its glorious army, committed, in accordance with its constitutional missions, to defend the territorial unity of the country in all conditions”.

The National Day of the ANP was established by the President of the Republic, Supreme Head of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in order to remember the beginnings of the creation of the ANP for which the National Liberation Army (ALN) is the hard core.
