Government meeting: preliminary draft of media law to develop a comprehensive legislative framework

The government examined today, Thursday a preliminary draft of the organic law related to the media, aimed at developing a comprehensive legislative framework that contributes to strengthening press freedom and encouraging the emergence of a media scene “rooted from the national reality, aware of national and international issues and committed to the ethics of the profession,” as stated by a press release of the services of the prime minister.

These new provisions will allow – according to the same source – to “promote the quality of media service and enhance professionalism in media practices based on international standards in this field.”

It is worth noting that, in accordance with the established procedures, a draft of this text will be studied during an upcoming meeting of the Council of Ministers.
