Sonatrach CEO, Tawfik hakkar revealed that Algeria is committed to providing its traditional customers with gas according to the quantities agreed on, explaining that Algeria’s capacity is sufficient to cover in a comfortable way any additional demand of its partners.
Mr Hakkar added that Algeria has confirmed several times its commitment to provide its traditional customers such as Spain and Italy with natural gas supplies, pointing out that the security of the supplies of its historical customers is at the heart of Sonatrach strategy development and marketing strategies, whether through Transcontinental Gas pipelines or through liquefied natural gas.
Regarding the” Medgaz pipeline”, Sonatrach CEO confirmed that Algeria will conveniently ensure and satisfy the supply to Spain regarding contracted gas quantities estimated at 10.5 billion cubic meters through this pipeline, adding that Algeria has gas dilution plants that can satisfy an additional demand to transport gas to Spain in just one day in case Spain demands additional amounts.
He revealed that Algeria benefits from a reserve of unconventional gas covering 150 years of consumption: from what is consumed nationally and exported. A century and a half of reserve which requires advanced technologies and methods.
