Heavy rainfall in several central and western provinces

Rain, sometimes as heavy rainfall, will hit several provinces in the centre and west of the country from Friday, according to a special weather bulletin (BMS) issued on Thursday by the National Meteorological Office.

The warning is placed under “Orange” vigilance and concerns the province of Bechar where rainfall amounts are forecast to vary between 15 and 25 mm on Friday from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, the same source said.

The provinces of Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mascara, Relizane, Tiaret, Saida, Naâma and El Bayadh are also concerned by the warning, with rainfall amounts estimated between 20 and 40 mm during the validity of the BMS, from 12:00 to 23:00 on Friday.

The provinces of Chlef, Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Blida, Ain Defla, Médéa, Tissemsilt, Laghouat and Djelfa will also be impacted by this rainfall, which will last from Friday at 18:00 to Saturday at 06:00, with amounts expected to be between 20 and 40 mm, and locally reaching or exceeding 50 mm.
