Installation of a joint ministerial committee to monitor the completion of the Baraki stadium project

A joint ministerial committee bringing together the housing and sports sectors, was installed today Monday, here in Algiers, to monitor the completion of a football stadium project in Baraki.

The inauguration ceremony took place under the chairmanship of the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Governor of Algiers, as well as the executives entrusted with monitoring the project.

This committee made up of representatives of such sectors as housing, youth and sports, finance, the interior and the wilaya of Algiers, is entrusted with monitoring  the project and addressing the problems hindering its completion in order to take all the necessary decisions to accelerate the pace of works.

The installation of this committee comes in implementation of the instructions of Prime Minister, Abdelaziz Djerad, to set-up a multi-sectoral ministerial committee to handle the project of the 40,000-seat stadium in Baraki, which is expected to host – in addition to other stadiums – the activities of the next African championship of African Nations “Chan 2023”.

In his speech during the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Belaribi affirmed that this committee will coordinate the efforts of the sectors concerned with this file in order to remove the recorded and potential obstacles and thus allow it to be delivered within the specified deadlines at the end of the current year 2021.

The minister pointed out to the organization of several field visits and periodic meetings at the level of his ministerial department, which resulted in the establishment of two working cells, the first of which is related to studies, while the second is concerned with the contractual aspect with the Chinese realization company.
