Interior Ministry: Brahim Merad takes office

Mr. Brahim Merad took office on Friday as Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Regional Planning, replacing Kamal Beldjoud, following the reshuffle carried out on Thursday by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

In a speech during the handover ceremony held at the ministry’s headquarters, Mr. Merad expressed his gratitude and thanks to the President of the Republic for the confidence he has invested in him, saying that it is “a responsibility to be assumed as part of a single team whose supreme objective is to serve the country”.

“The consecration of good governance constitutes the cornerstone for the construction of the new Algeria”, he added, insisting on “the continuation of the digitization of the sector by moving forward towards E- administration”.

Born August 22, 1953 in Batna, Brahim Merad is a graduate of the National School of Administration.

Several times wali, he was in charge of the file of gray areas at the Presidency of the Republic, then appointed Mediator of the Republic, before being entrusted with the portfolio of the Interior.
