Journalist Mohamed Alouane passes away at the age of 79.

Journalist Mohamed Alouane died on Friday in Algiers at the age of 79 following a coronavirus infection, APS learned from his relatives.

Born in 1942 in Draa Kebila, Sétif province, where he received his first education in Islamic fiqh, Mohamed Alouane joined the Al Azhar mosque in Cairo where he continued his studies in religious sciences and obtained several diplomas before joining Cairo University.

Upon his return to Algeria, late Mohamed worked as a journalist in the Arabic version of the magazine “Révolution et Travail”, an organ of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), before becoming its Editor-in-Chief.

After the magazine’s closure, the journalist worked as the head of the library and archives of the trade union centre.

On this painful occasion, the Minister of Communication, Ammar Belhimer, extended his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, praying to Allah the Almighty to grant him His holy mercy.
