In the second round of the CAF Champions League, JS Kabylie claimed a crucial victory against WA Casablanca, winning 1-0 at the 5 July 1962 Stadium. The game was officiated by a Tunisian referee. The only goal of the match was scored by the captain, Souyad, in the 87th minute, securing the three points for the Kabyles and putting them at the top of Group A with a total of four points.
