Lamamra holds talks with AU Commissioner for Peace, Security

Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, met Sunday in Algiers with the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union, Bankole Adeoye, with whom he discussed the crisis in Libya and several other African issues.

In a statement to the press after these discussions, Commissioner Adeoye hailed the leadership of Mr. Lamamra, expressing his “deep gratitude” to the Minister for his pan-African initiative for the restoration of peace in Libya and to which the African Union is called to contribute.

According to the head of the AU PSC, the meeting with Algeria top diplomat was an opportunity to discuss several African and regional issues, including North Africa.

The meeting between Lamamra and Adeoye comes on the eve of an important meeting of the Libyan neighboring countries which is expected to discuss a roadmap for the holding of elections in that country.
