Lamamra in Addis Ababa for the 39th Ministerial Session of the AU Executive Council

Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, will travel Tuesday evening to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, with a significant delegation, to participate in the work of the 39th session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU), said a statement from the ministry.

“The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, will travel on Tuesday evening to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia to participate in the work of the 39th session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU), that brings together the foreign ministers of all member states,” the statement said.

“During this session, the Council will address a series of issues related to the implementation of Agenda 2063 and the prospects for strengthening cooperation between the countries of the continent in the fight against Coronavirus pandemic. Issues related to joint African action and ways to enable continental institutions such as the African Parliament to carry out the missions entrusted to them,” will also be discussed, the ministry added.

It is also planned to «finalise the establishment of the AU Commission through the election of two commissioners, to define the main theme of the next summit as well as to approve the budget of the organisation for the year 2022,” the document says.

On the sidelines of the Executive Council, “Mr. Lamamra will hold talks with the high authorities of the host country and his African counterparts, as well as with several officials of the AU Commission and with various continental bodies and institutions,” the statement concluded.
