Lamamra participating at the 42nd session of the African Union Executive Council

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, is participating in the 42nd session of the African Union Executive Council, from today Wednesday, to tomorrow Thursday, at the headquarters of the continental organization in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, according to a statement from the ministry.

According to the statement, the Executive Council works of the foreign ministers of the member states fall within the framework of the preparation for the 36th summit of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union under the slogan ““Acceleration of AFCFTA implementation”.” The statement added that “for this purpose, it is expected that during the works of the council, many reports related to peace, security, and development in Africa, the renewal of the membership of some subsidiary bodies, and draft resolutions to be presented at the next summit will be discussed.”

On the sidelines of his participation in the workds of the council, the statement mentioned that Mr. Lamamra held bilateral talks and meetings with many of his counterparts, “especially the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Senegal, who heads the current session of the Executive Council, and foreign ministers from Libya, Congo, Togo, Angola, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya, Mauritania, Somalia, and Sierra Leone, in addition to the head of the African Union Commission and many senior officials in the commission.”

The foreign ministry statement highlighted that “the meetings focused on the items listed on the agenda of the current session.”
