Lamamra starts a two-day working visit to Mali

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, started today, Wednesday, in his capacity as special envoy of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a two-day working visit to the Republic of Mali, according to a ministry statement.

The statement said that Lamamra was received upon his arrival by his Malian counterpart Abdoulaye Diop.

“This visit is part of the joint efforts of the two countries to strengthen bilateral strategic relations and give a new impetus to the peace and reconciliation process in Mali,” the statement adds.

During this visit, the Algerian diplomacy chief will hold a series of meetings with his Malian counterpart, as well as with the higher authorities of the Republic of Mali.

Lamamra, in his capacity as the leader of the international mediation, will also hold meetings with the main players in the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali stemming from the Algiers process.

In this regard, the Minister will meet with the head of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), as well as with representatives of the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States, according to the same statement.
