Land line: 5 million subscribers during second trimester of 2021

Nearly 5 million subscribers to fixed telephone networks (wired and wireless) were registered during the second quarter of 2021 in Algeria, an increase of 1.78 percent compared to the first quarter of this year, according to the latest report of the Postal and Electronic Communications Control Authority.

Out of 4.91 million fixed-line subscribers in the second trio of this year, the document indicated that there are 4.46 million resident subscribers (4.38 million in the first trio) and 449,707 professional subscribers (439,470 in the first trio).

At the end of June 2021, subscribers to residential fixed-line networks represented 90.84 percent of the total fixed-line subscribers, compared to 9.16 percent of professional subscribers.

The authority confirmed that out of the total number of subscribers to fixed telephone networks, there are 3.52 million subscribers to wired networks and 1.25 million subscribers to fixed wireless networks and the fourth generation / Wimax.

With regard to the percentage of households that have a fixed telephone line, the same source stated that it has witnessed an increase of 66.93 percent, compared to 65.79 percent in the first trio of 2021.

This report was prepared according to a population of 44.02 million people and 7.33 million families as of June 30, 2021.
