Launching activities of “Intangible Cultural Heritage” Month entitled ” Economic Valuation of Cultural Heritage”

Algeria Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, chaired today, Monday, in the Citadel of Algiers, “Dar Al Sultan”, the launch of the activities of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Month for the year 2021, under the slogan “Economic Valuation of Cultural Heritage”, with  the participation officials and economic operators.

The delegation will pay an inspection visit to Sarkaji Prison Museum which is under preparation and work to turn it into a museum of national memory. The delegation will visit some neighborhoods of the lower Kasbah.

Seizing this opportunity, an exhibition will be organized on ways to invest in the cultural preserved sectors, and the “My Painting” project will be launched to sell paintings online, with the organization of a special exhibition on the Queen Tenhinane and an exhibition on the facilities of the National Public Museum Bardo.

The 2021 exhibition’s theme falls within the government’s objective to exploit cultural heritage to achieve economic recovery and make it a source of wealth by engaging private economic operators.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage Month activities extend from April 18 to May 18 (National Day of Historic Landmarks – International Museums Day).
