Leader of terrorist movement MAK Ferhat M’heni sentenced to life imprisonment

The criminal court of first instance of Dar El Beeda, Algiers, on Wednesday sentenced in absentia the leader of the terrorist movement MAK, Ferhat M’heni, to life imprisonment and confirmed the international arrest warrant issued against him for undermining territorial integrity, endangering state security, undermining national unity and the stability of State institutions, establishing and joining a terrorist organization.

The Dar El Beida court also sentenced four other defendants to the same penalty in the same case. These were Farfouh Hanafi, Merzouk Abderrahmane, Kadi Slimane and Lorghioui Jugurtha.

Sentences ranging from 2 to 6 years’ imprisonment were issued to 4 defendants, while another defendant was discharged.
