Mediterranean Games 2022: Various activities to celebrate 365 days before the kickoff of 19th edition in Oran

The National Committee for Organizing the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games in Oran has drawn up a rich program to announce that 356 days remain until the kickoff of the regional sports event, which coincides with next Friday, as announced by the Committee on Tuesday.

These celebrations, which are held in cooperation with various partners of the Committee, are taking place at Sidi M’hamed Park, not far from the National Liberation Army Street (formerly, the sea front), the festive program includes various activities that include a mixture of sports, culture, heritage and entertainment, as it was indicated.

By giving the start of the countdown to the Mediterranean Games, the organizers of this sporting event hosted by Algeria for the second time in its history, after hosting the 1975 edition in Algiers, hope to involve citizens of Oran in particular and citizens of Algeria in general in the success of this sporting event, as these celebrations are part of the promotion of the Games.

Sidi M’hamed Park is known to be the destination of people in the capital of western Algeria, especially in such summer conditions, which explains the organizers’ choice of this site to launch the celebrations of the beginning of the countdown to the games, which, according to them, “allows citizens to enter the atmosphere of the Mediterranean Games as from now.”

The organizing committee, which extended a general invitation to citizens to attend the ceremony, stressed the need to “respect the preventive measures to combat Coronavirus pandemic.

It is worth noting that the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games was due to be held during the current summer of 2021 but was postponed to next summer due to Covid-19 pandemic.
