The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has sent a message on the occasion of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Victory Day, according to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic.

“In the name of Allah the most Gracious, the most Merciful and Peace and Blessings be upon His messengers
Dear citizens,
Tomorrow we celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of a historic national day, immortalized by the sacrifices of the Algerian people and the righteous martyrs as a symbol of victory and breaking free from the dominance of the hideous colonialism. The cease fire, declared following the Evian accords was a victory and ushered in the defeat of the oppression of the aggressors on our pure land who were motivated by the illusion to obliterate our identity and our civilization, culture and heritage but they failed in front of the will of a brave people determined to remain free and authentic.
This historical moment in the victorious path of the nation, had a great echo in the world thanks to the glorious revolution, and the great sacrifices that had never stopped since the French colonizer set a foot on our homeland through heroic popular resistance movements which remain enshrined in the memory and history to inspire – today and tomorrow – the new generations of the loyalty to the martyrs as well as enthusiasm and the will to build and grow.
The omens of victory shone in the skies of Algeria on that day. The Algerian people drew strength and determination to confront the effects of widespread and horrific destruction that evidence the heinous colonizer’s crimes which remain unforgettable and are imprescriptible. Therefore, a fair and impartial treatment of the memory and history file in an atmosphere of frankness and trust is inevitable, and in this regard, I reiterate that this issue will remain at the core of our concerns and we will continue our relentless efforts to emphasize the right of our country to recover the archives and shed light on the fate of the missing during the glorious revolution, in addition to compensating the victims of nuclear tests and other issues related to this file… in order to preserve the trust of the righteous martyrs.
Dear citizens,
The celebration on this renewed historic event and other national days, remind us of the sacrifices of the champions and braves who defended the country, in the mountains, bushes and valleys. Since the Algerians are linked to those brave and righteous martyrs and to the great historic heritage of Algeria, they managed to built a solid basis on which lies the National Independent State, which remained steadfast and achieved victory over all the difficult situations and hurdles, and which is aware today of the deep transformations at the regional and international level and is heading in all security towards creating the conditions to preserve Algeria’s position in a global context, marked by fluctuations and turmoil.
As we live with the world in these complex special circumstances, with decisive regional and international changes, we affirm that our aspiration to building a growing Algeria requires reconsideration of the value of effort and work, and the determination to strengthen our national unity in all its aspects and dimensions and to unify our ranks efforts, deepen a sense of patriotic duty, and assume responsibilities in the fullest manner, in various sectors, and in all positions, towards the nation and the homeland.
Finally, we pay tribute, on this Victory Day, to the souls of the righteous martyrs, renewing the loyalty to their sacrifices and we salute their comrades, the Mujahideen, may Allah prolong their lives.
