As part of Annual Military Sports’ Program worked out by the People’s National Army for the year 2020/2021, seventeen teams are competing in the Taekwondo Cup contest which kicked off on Monday at the Boudjriou Messaoud preparation center here in Algiers.
The participating teams, hailing from the different military Regions, Forces’ Commands, High Military Schools, are competing in the two major styles of the discipline namely the Poumsae and Kyorugi.
Colonel Ahmed Abdelhak Djabou, the head of the preparation center, who officially launched the competition, urged the participants to do their utmost to snatch medals while abiding by the fair play rules. He also highlighted the importance of this event which has to crown the great efforts made by the Supreme Command of the National People’s Army.
For his part, the national military coach Walid Aoun considered this competition a good opportunity to select the best athletes for the national team likely to represent Algeria in the upcoming military sporting events particularly the Arab and the world Championships respectively in Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
It is worth recalling that this two day sporting event will be crowned with a ceremony to crown the winners with medals and trophies.
