Minister of Communication calls on the public media to support the state’s efforts and highlight the achievements made

The Minister of Communication, Mohamed Bouslimani, called today, Monday in Algiers, on the public press to support the state’s efforts and highlight the achievements which have been made in the field.

In a statement to the press, following a visit which led him to the headquarters of the French-language newspapers “El Moudjahid” and “Horizons”, the minister stressed the need to be professional, highlighting that the public press, which is “a locomotive for national media,” is called upon to “support the efforts of the state and highlight the achievements which have been made in field.”

In order to achieve this professionalism, the minister stressed the importance of continuous training of journalists in order to “keep pace with the developments, especially with regard to supporting written newspapers with websites that provide timely and credible information to public opinion.”

Mr. Bouslimani also stressed the importance of strengthening the role of the neighborhood media, which is – as he said – “a pillar in achieving local development and conveying the citizen’s voice.”

On the same occasion, the Minister of Communication urged public newspapers to “expand” their network of correspondents across the country to ensure comprehensive coverage of various events and to get closer to the citizen to enable him to have continuous access to local development activities.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bouslimani called for “optimal sponsorship of the distribution of public newspapers through the establishment of a group that accomplishes this task and faces up to any abuses.”

During his meeting with the directors of “El Moudjahid” and “Horizons”, daily newspapers, the minister highlighted the necessity of coordinating with the National Center for Documentation, Press, Image and Information, with the aim of “strengthening the effort to digitize the press image to preserve the sector’s archive.”.
