Minister of Energy Transition: Algeria has prepared a solid and integrated platform to accelerate the energy transition

The Minister of Energy Transition and Renewable Energies Ziane Benattou said on Thursday, that Algeria had prepared a “solid and integrated platform” to accelerate the energy transition.

In his speech on the occasion of the third Algeria / Germany day on energy, Ziane indicated that “Algeria prepared a solid and integrated platform in order to accelerate the energy transition through the adoption and implementation of a road map that revolves around many axes.”

The minister highlighted that this road map includes a national program for the development of renewable energies, which consists of “setting a total capacity of 15,000 megawatts of electricity generated froma renewable source and an ambitious national plan for the production of green hydrogen by 2035.”

“Today, green hydrogen is considered a clean fuel and a strategic alternative for the coming decades as it plays an important role for a good energy transition. It will also be an important means in the future for our economy,” according to the minister, who pointed out that Algeria is a country “ endowed with important solar and wind energies.”

Meanwhile, Zianestressed that “There have been many changes in the field of energy at the global and national levels, and these changes will be beneficial for the future of our planet. These rapid and important structural changes that characterize the energy field at the global level today put Algeria in front of very important challenges and stakes.
