The Minister of Energy Transition and Renewable Energies, Benattou Ziane, received a delegation from the Academy of Renewable Energies Engineers of Laghouat, with whom he discussed the possibilities of concretizing in the field the opportunities offered by renewable energies in this wilaya, said a press release from the ministry on Monday.
The meeting took place on Sunday, on the occasion of World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5 each year, the same source said.
To this end, Mr. Ziane expressed his wish to promote synergy between his ministerial department and the Academy in order to “concretize on the ground the opportunities offered by renewable energies, particularly in agriculture, the main development sector of the region, given the vast expanses of steppe characterizing the wilaya of Laghouat”, adds the document.
In this sense, the minister recalled the strategic importance of the Solar 1000MW project for the wilaya of Laghouat where a solar power plant with a capacity of 300 MW is planned on the Hassi Delaa site.
Mr. Ziane also favorably accepted the request for sponsorship of the “Open doors on renewable energies” day, organized by the Academy next September in Laghouat.
At the end of this meeting, the representatives of the Academy paid a courtesy visit to the central directorates of the ministry, as well as to the National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use (APRUE ) and the National Renewable Energy Company “SHAEMS”.
