Minister of Industry discusses with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Algeria ways to enhance bilateral cooperation

The Minister of Industry Ahmed Zeghdar received, today, Monday in Algiers, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Algeria, Mr. Alejandro Alvarez, with whom he discussed means and ways of strengthening cooperation between Algeria and United Nations bodies in the industrial field, according to a statement issued by the ministry.

During this meeting, the two parties evaluated cooperation and partnership programs in the industrial field between Algeria and the United Nations and its affiliated bodies, according to the same source.

The projects that could constitute opportunities for cooperation on the long-term were also examined, such as industrial policy, food security through the development of food industries and also job creation.

In this regard, Mr. Zeghedar welcomed all forms of cooperation with the various bodies and agencies of the United Nations, expressing Algeria’s desire to benefit from the support of these agencies in its efforts to develop the national industry.

For his part, the representative of the United Nations expressed his organization’s interest and support for the economic reforms that are being implemented, calling for the reinforcement of joint cooperation between Algeria and the United Nations, according to the statement.

It is worth noting that Mr. Alvarez was accompanied in this meeting by the representative of the United Nations for Industrial Development in Algeria, Hassiba Sayeh, and the representative of the ILO office in Algeria, Rania Bakhazi.
