Minister of Interior Affairs calls on governors to harness all possibilities for legislative elections success

Minister of Interior Affairs, Local Communities and Urban Development, Kamel Beldjoud, called on governors to harness all possibilities for the success of the legislative elections scheduled for June 12, according to a ministry press release.

During his supervision of a meeting with the governors devoted to discussing a number of current files, through videoconference, within the framework of a series of periodic coordination meetings with the governors of the Republic, the minister stressed the “necessity of harnessing all possibilities for the success of organizing this electoral date” in “good and appropriate” conditions and ensuring “voters to perform their electoral duty in peace.”

According to the press release, this meeting discussed measures taken to accompany the Independent National Electoral Authority in its organization of the legislative elections for June 12, 2021, especially by “mobilizing all logistical means.”

Regarding the preparations for the official exams for the end of the school year, Minister Beldjoud called on the governors “to adjust the last preparations for the optimal celebration of the intermediate education and baccalaureate exams, and to ensure that all conditions are met to ensure the organization of these exams and to ensure the comfort of examinees and supervisors.”

In another context, the meeting allowed – the same source added – “to see the level of progress of preparations for the summer season, as the minister reiterated the importance of coordination work between various sectors, to ensure a successful season.”

Kamel Beldjoud also stressed the priority at the local level of the safety and health of vacationers by standing on the “strict application of precautionary and preventive measures against the spread of Covid-19,  while strengthening the preventive and sensitization work to prevent various risks, especially those associated with swimming in places prohibited, and the risks of waterborne diseases and food poisoning.”

The agenda also included an assessment of measures taken and the means harnessed in preventing and combating forest fires, where the Minister commented on the measures taken, calling for “vigilance and the involvement of civil society and citizens in efforts to prevent the danger of fires and protect forest wealth.”
