The Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Youcef Cherfa affirmed today, Monday, that the unemployment benefit will be paid to the beneficiaries through the post offices on the 28th of each month, starting from next March.
Being a guest of the forum of Channel One of the National Radio, Mr. Cherfa said that “in coordination with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the unemployment benefit will be paid to the beneficiaries on the 28th of each month, starting from next March,” adding that this benefit “will be permanent until the beneficiary obtains a job position.
The minister stressed that the registrations of job seekers who want to benefit from this benefit will be through the website of the National Employment Agency, noting that the unemployment benefit will allow its beneficiary to obtain a health insurance “Chifa” card, confirming the social nature of the state.
Mr. Cherfa confirmed earlier that “all young people registered within the employment agency will be contacted again, as from February 25, through the opening a digital platform in order to enable them to create files to benefit from this benefit.”
It’s worth noting that an executive decree was published in the latest issue of the Official Gazette specifying the conditions, modalities and amount of the unemployment benefit, as well as the obligations for its beneficiaries.
The decree stipulates that in order to benefit from the unemployment benefit, the unemployed person seeking employment for the first time must be of Algerian nationality and residing in Algeria and must be between 19 and 40 years old and registered as an unemployed job seeker for the first time within the services of the National Employment Agency for at least six (6) months and not have any income whatsoever.
The unemployed person is also required to justify his/her position towards national military service, not be registered in an institution of higher education or vocational training, not have benefited from public agencies to support the creation and expansion of activities, aid to professional integration and social assistance, and that the husband/wife does not have any income of whatever nature .
Prisoners who served their sentence and do not have an income within the conditions stipulated in this decree also benefit from this benefit.
The services of the National Employment Agency ensure the follow-up and control of the implementation of the apparatus in connection with the non-centralized services of the Ministry in charge of employment.
It’s worth recalling that the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced during his last regular meeting with the media, that the unemployment benefit would be paid as of next March under the form of a semi-salary estimated at 13,000 Algerian dinars.
