Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed, stressed today, Tuesday, in Algiers, the need for everyone to be mobilized to speed-up the pace of “mass” vaccination of the sector’s employees to fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, in anticipation of the upcoming school year.
During his supervision of the inauguration of the members of the National Committee for Social Services for Education Workers, Mr. Belabed indicated that the most important recommendations he made to the members of this committee are to “work to speed-up the pace of vaccination for workers in the education sector at the level of vocational medicine centers spread over 41 provinces.”
In this regard, the Minister stressed the importance of “utilizing these structures to vaccinate the largest possible number of the sector’s employees, especially those with chronic diseases and pregnant women, before the beginning of the next school year, because vaccination – as he said – is a “national duty” before calling for the activation of detection and health follow-up units in the process of vaccination of the sector’s employees.
Meanwhile Mr. Belabed called on members of the committee to prioritize and rationalize expenditures, in order to “generalize the use of social services funds to include all groups,” noting that the inauguration of the members of the National Committee for Social Services, whose members were elected last July, will be followed soon by the inauguration of members of the provincial committees”.
It is worth noting that while chairing a coordination meeting with the central executives of his sector to take stock of the latest actions related to preparing for the 2021-2022 school year, last Saturday, Mr. Belabed stressed the need to “speed-up” the pace of vaccination of employees of the central administration and directorates of education in the provinces to proceed later on with the vaccination of the educational and administrative staff and all the sector’s employees during the school entry.
It is to be recalled that the Ministry of Education set next September 7 as the school entry date for the pupils for the 2021/2022 school year.
