Minister of Solidarity supervises launch of awareness convoy on the prevention from seasonal influenza

The Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues Kaoutar Krikou supervised today, Thursday in Algiers,  the launch of an awareness campaign on seasonal influenza prevention, for the benefit of the beneficiaries of the random grant of the National Solidarity Sector.

In a statement to the press, the minister explained that the aim of this convoy, which will roam various remote areas across the country, is to “sensitize vulnerable groups of the elderly, people with special needs and those with chronic diseases about the importance of vaccination against seasonal influenza.”

She added that the neighborhood cells, consisting of doctors, psychologists and social specialists, will move to the homes of these vulnerable groups, examine and vaccinate them, and this will “reduce them from the hardship of moving to health institutions and protect them from the complications of this epidemic.”

The minister indicated that this awareness campaign is a “complement to many campaigns carried out by the Ministry of National Solidarity in coordination with the Ministry of Health,” noting that her sector “always works within the framework of government solidarity.”

The minister had previously supervised the conclusion of the training course for accompaniment and social care directed to the executives of the neighborhood cells, in coordination with the United Nations Population Fund.

She explained that the aim of this 5-day course is to “improve the level of executives in caring for vulnerable groups and work on their social integration.”
