The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Territorial Planning, Brahim Merad, held talks on Monday in Algiers with the Palestinian Minister of Interior, Ziad Hab Al-Rih.

In a statement to the press at the end of the meeting, the Palestinian minister, on a visit to Algeria, praised the solidity of relations between Palestine and Algeria, which he described as a “second homeland for every Palestinian”.

On this occasion, Mr Hab Al-Rih said he had transmitted an oral message from the Palestinian President, Mr Mahmoud Abbas, to the President of the Republic, Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in which he reaffirmed that he was “fully convinced of President Tebboune’s initiative to achieve Palestinian national unity”.

“President Abu Mazen pays special interest to this subject, especially in the context of the historic move of the Palestinian cause,” the Palestinian minister added, adding that the first decision taken in the light of the new situation was to “stress the importance of initiating the national dialogue for the achievement of Palestinian unity.
