
Urgent measures have been taken by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abdelhamid Hemdani, to help farmers affected by the rise in prices of agricultural inputs on the international market, a ministry statement said on Thursday.
“Following the rise in prices of agricultural inputs on the international market and in order to dampen the impact on agricultural activity at the national level, Mr. Abdelhamid Hemdani, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, has put in place emergency measures for farmers in the various agricultural sectors affected by this price surge in order to assist them in starting the agricultural season in good conditions,” the statement said.
In this context, a new support system has been put in place, which consists in increasing the reference prices of the different categories of fertilizers, the same source said. While recalling that these measures were taken after several meetings of consultation between the administration and professionals, the ministry stressed that other incentives are being developed by its services, and this, to ensure “a better supervision of agricultural activities.
