In the dynamics of the continued efforts of the fight against terrorism and against the multiform organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army have carried out, during the period from February 15 to 21, 2023, several operations that led to quality results reflecting the high professionalism, vigilance and permanent readiness of our Armed Forces across the national territory:
As part of the fight against terrorism and securing the borders, combined detachments of the People’s National Army have arrested (08) supporting elements of terrorist groups in separate operations across the national territory, while one (01) homemade bombs was discovered and destroyed after a search and sweep in Boumerdes.
In the framework of the fight against organized crime and in continuity of the sustained efforts to thwart the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined detachments of the People’s National Army have arrested, in coordination with the various security services during operations carried out across the Military Regions, (81) drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to introduce quantities of drugs from the borders with Morocco, amounting to (07) quintals and (41) kilograms of cannabis, and seized (299072) psychotropic tablets.
In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Tindouf and Djanet, detachments of the People’s National Army arrested (210) persons and seized (42) vehicles, (315) generators, (50) pick hammers, (15.5) quintals of raw gold and stones, as well as quantities of explosives, detonation tools and equipment used in illicit gold panning operations while (42) other individuals were arrested, and (01) semi-automatic rifle, (12) shotguns, (06) automatic pistols, (44) quintals of tobacco, (16371) units of various kinds of drinks and huge quantities of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation amounting to (79) tons were seized in separate operations across the national territory. In addition, the border guards have foiled, in coordination with the services of the Gendarmerie Nationale, attempts to smuggle large quantities of fuel amounting to (44455) liters in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Souk Ahras, El-Tarf and Tébessa.
On the other hand, the Coast Guard have foiled, in our national coasts, attempts to illegal immigration and have proceeded to the rescue of (97) persons on home-made boats, while (658) illegal immigrants of different nationalities have been arrested across the national territory.
