Algeria has lost with the death of Haj Rabah Driassa “one of the pillars of authentic art,” said Friday from Blida, the Minister of Culture and Arts, Wafa Chaâlal.

The Algerian artist Rabah Driassa, one of the pillars of the Algerian popular music, died on Friday morning at the age of 87, said the director of culture of Blida province Hadj Meshoub.

In a statement to the press after presenting her condolences to the family of the departed, the Minister said that “Algeria has lost, with the death of Rabah Driassa, one of the pillars of art and authentic heritage.

The artist Driassa, died this Friday morning at his home located at Boulevard Larbi Tebessi in downtown Blida.the late Rabah Driassa who launched his artistic career in 1953, enjoys an important social popularity that devotes him love and respect especially among the Algerian people.

Among his greatest successes, it is worth mentioning his famous song “Yahyaou Ouled Beladi” (long live the country’s children), which has helped to strengthen the bonds between Algerians.

Author and composer of some of his songs, Driassa has sung the fatherland, love and beauty in particular in his hits “El Moumarida”, “Ya Mohamed” and “Nedjma Kotbiya”.
