The Ministry of Energy and Mines will organize, next Tuesday, an information day dedicated to promoting mining investment in Algeria, according to a statement by the ministry.
“Under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Ministry of Energy and Mines is organizing, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the International Conference Center Abdellatif Rahal” here in Algiers, an information day dedicated to promoting mining investment in Algeria,” , the statement said.
The ministry explained that organizing this information day comes within the framework of the national economic recovery plan, especially in the mining sector in terms of research and development, as well as promoting investment opportunities in this field.
The same source also indicated that this event is part of the dynamic of change launched by the Ministry of Energy and Mines with the aim of encouraging Algerian and foreign investors to strengthen their presence in the mining sector “in view of the large mineral reserves that Algeria abounds in such as iron, phosphate, zinc, gold, marble, barite and others.”
The statement stressed that “Thanks to the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Ministry of Energy and Mines is working to encourage and promote investments in the mining sector through the mechanisms that have been put in place.”
The most important of these mechanisms, according to the ministry, is to reconsider the legislative and regulatory framework related to mining activities, which should be developed in accordance with global competitive environmental standards, in addition to providing basic information and data related to geological mapping and mineral inventory to investors.
