Ministry of Interior adopts a series of precautionary measures to confront the risks of floods and weather disturbances

The local authorities have taken a series of precautionary measures to confront the risks of floods and weather disturbances, which allowed the removal of more than 400,000 tons of dust and waste, according to a statement issued today, Wednesday, by the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Urban Planning.

The same source indicated that local authorities “have embarked on a series of practical measures to clean water drainage channels and perform maintenance on sewage facilities and networks, in addition to awareness-raising campaigns with the involvement of civil society actors.”

These measures allowed, until the end of last November, to “clean and maintain 696,751 storm water drains and channels, 68.5 percent of which are located on the edges of roads and main streets, while the rest are located in other regions, especially the low ones and tunnels.”

These campaigns also included – as indicated by the same source – “a special focus to remind the citizen of the pivotal role in preserving the cleanliness of the environment.
