Joint units and detachments of the People’s National Army arrested, during the period from last November 30 to December 6, five (5) elements supporting terrorist groups in separate operations across the national territory, according to a statement issued today, Wednesday, by the Ministry of National Defense.
The same source indicated that “in the context of the continuous efforts made in the fight against terrorism and organized crime in all its forms, units and detachments of People’s National Army carried out, during the period from November 30 to December 06, 2022, several operations that yielded qualitative results thus reflecting the extent of the high professionalism, vigilance and readiness of the members of our armed forces throughout the national territory.
Detachments of People’s National Army in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam, Djanet and Tindouf, for their part, arrested “155 people and seized 21 vehicles, 155 generators, 124 hammers, nine (09) metal detectors, 15 quintals of a mixture of gold ore and stones, in addition to quantities of explosives and explosive equipment and other equipment used in illegal gold mining.
Meanwhile, the coast guards thwarted – according to the statement – “illegal immigration attempts along the national coasts, and rescued 71 people who were on board traditionally made boats, while 142 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.”
